As I split my working time between meeting clients at my office and visiting them at their place of work or home, there are times when I feel like I am living in my own version of the classic 80’s comedy Planes, Trains and Automobiles. Although, in my version, I get the occasional ferry as well. But why do I willingly clock up the ground, air and nautical miles? Because it’s all part of the service. Sometimes it’s not convenient for the client to come to me. That might be due to time constraints on their part, the size of the collection that requires valuing or the client prefers the security and discretion that comes with me going to them. Whatever the reason, it doesn’t matter to me. The only thing that does matter is ensuring the client receives a professional service that provides them with a valuation that is fit for purpose
