I love so many things about my job, but one of the aspects that I get the most from is providing education and training. Over the years, I have delivered numerous workshops on identifying counterfeit watches, boxes, and accessories at valuers conferences. I designed a systematic step-by-step guide for watch inspections to aid new valuers as part of their ongoing training. And I provide training days for insurance companies and underwriters. So they know what information they need on a valuation to help ensure accurate cover and swift claim settlement.
I get the most from this, not just because I enjoy it, but because it has made me a better valuer. Learning how to teach what I do has meant continuously reviewing how I work. I have been able to evolve with changes in the industry, so the valuations I provide take into account everything relevant to the watch or piece of jewellery on my desk.
Valuing is an evolution and never static.
