I recently attended the Jewellery Valuers Association yearly conference, where I was awarded the prestigious Valuer of the Year award.
“It is an award for the valuer who has excelled in upholding the JVA’s professional valuation standards and continuously shows exceptional levels of integrity. It recognises the valuer’s commitment and dedication to supporting and developing the JVA, its members, and professional valuers.”
I won’t lie; it was a shock. The shortlist of nominees consisted of some of the best valuers and experts in the country. I am privileged to have been in their company, and to receive an award your peers have voted for is a humbling experience.
Such an award could be viewed as the pinnacle of one’s career, and to a certain extent, it does feel like that. But as I intended and hope to have many more years in the trade, this is more of a ‘new’ starting point. I now must ensure that everything I did that put me into contention for this prestigious award in the first place does not slip but is built upon so I can continue to provide exceptional service to my colleagues and clients.
